The Real Safeguard of Democracy is Education

Democracy cannot succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely. The real safeguard of democracy, therefore, is education.
~~ Franklin D. Roosevelt ~~ (1882 - 1945)

That is exactly true. An educated public willing to engage itself with the issues of the day and not leave it just to the elitists or politicians will ensure a successful democracy.

In a democracy people are, in fact, the employer. They elect their representatives to run the affairs of the state for a certain period of time after which they get to decide if they want to elect the same or different representative(s). It’s akin to an employer conducting a review of the employee after a certain period of time.

Therefore, an educated and well informed public where vast majority of people never commit themselves to just one political party but objectively assess the performance of the contenders just like an employer and then vote accordingly, will ensure a real successful democracy.
